Black July (1983): Black July is a term used to describe a series of violent anti-Tamil riots that took place in Sri Lanka in July 1983. The riots were sparked by an ambush on a military convoy by Tamil militants, leading to the targeted killing of Tamil civilians and widespread looting and arson. The violence lasted for several days and resulted in the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of people and caused significant displacement of Tamil communities.
